I grew up in Auckland and relocated to Dunedin with my whānau in 2014. I originally came to Southern Peak Crossfit back in 2017 because my friend bought a voucher and asked if I wanted it, so I did and now the rest is history. Now me, my wife and my 2 sons come here and we absolutely love it.

I’ve been coaching at the gym for about one year now and I love being able to help people better their technique and push themselves in order to improve.

3 things I love about CrossFit:

1. It definitely helps me with my mental and physical health. On the days I don't come to the gym, I feel sluggish and tired, and when I do come to the gym I always feel a sense of accomplishment.

2. Our crossfit family. The vibe at the gym always good and supportive. If one person succeeds, everyone is happy and all for it!

3. The variety! I love trying new things! From muscle ups to handstand walks, and from Olympic lifts, to just good ol’ running. There is always something new to learn and something that needs to be improved on!

If you've ever been keen to try crossfit, or if you've never heard of it, there is a place for anyone and everyone here at Southern Peak CrossFit.

I grew up in Melbourne and relocated to Dunedin with my whānau in 2018. I fell in love with CrossFit a few years ago after I watched a CrossFit documentary on Netflix. I then found Southern Peak CrossFit and haven’t looked back.

I’ve been coaching at the gym for a year now and I love being able to help others improve in the CrossFit space.

3 things I love about CrossFit:

1. It helps me with my own mental health. Facing everything life throws at you can be a challenge. I believe your mental health is just as important as your physical health.

2. The community that comes with CrossFit is what helps me stay motivated to workout and push myself.

3. The variety! From weightlifting, to gymnastics, to swimming, CrossFit has it all. You can always improve!

Hey!

I’m Sheryn but everyone bar the parents call me Shez.

I’ve come from a cycling & fight sport background. I was the first kid to have a note for PE but here I am…. Coaching CrossFit!

I’ve worked in a handful of different gyms & was lucky to have some excellent mentors over the years. I’ve coached, Pt’d & instructed all kinds of classes from spin to this one time I filled in for Zumba.

Way back in 2005 I spent some time studying & got my certificate in PT & exercise prescription. Away from coaching I work in Dental & I’m a mum to two teens.

I’ve been with Southern Peak for some years now but started my CrossFit journey at the original CrossFit Dunedin. The community at SPC & CrossFit as a whole is super special.

My favourite part of coaching is the shared moments of suffering, meeting so many different people & when people “get it”. Don’t wait to for a level of fitness you think you need to start… just start. You can learn a lot about yourself in this sport and I highly recommend it!

Visiting Dogs are also a bonus!
